A new study suggests that the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is less effective against the Delta variant compared to other strains. The research found that the vaccine was 88% effective at preventing symptomatic disease from the Delta variant, lower than the 93.7% effectiveness against the Alpha variant. However, the vaccine still provides strong protection against severe illness and hospitalization from Delta. Experts recommend getting vaccinated to help control the spread of the virus.
