The United States has transferred the last group of migrants from Guantanamo Bay back to the U.S. mainland for deportation. The detainees, including high-threat illegal aliens, were flown to Louisiana on a nonmilitary aircraft. ICE and DHS have not commented on the operation. The Trump administration had planned to use Guantanamo Bay for holding migrants for deportation. Immigration rights groups have filed lawsuits against the U.S. government over the use of Guantanamo Bay. DHS has dismissed the allegations in the lawsuits, stating that they will continue to work with the DOJ to fend off legal challenges.
