Racist police on duty every day, ex-inspector says

Former West Midlands Police chief inspector Khizra Bano is taking Chief Constable Craig Guildford to an employment tribunal, alleging widespread racism and homophobia within the force. Bano claims that racist behavior was rampant, including officers making derogatory comments to colleagues of color. Despite the force’s denial, Bano insists that little action was taken to address racism, leading her to retire due to mental health issues. Bano’s Brave Spaces project aimed to address discrimination within the force, but her efforts were allegedly met with resistance from senior officers. The tribunal is expected to address claims of victimization, discrimination, and harassment.
