An Ecuadorian hotspot shows how forests can claw back from destruction

A joint German-Ecuadorian team is studying the recovery of the Ecuadorian Chocó Forest after deforestation. The project, called the Reassembly Research Unit, is based in the Canandé Reserve and has found that tropical forests have a remarkable capacity to heal. The findings can inform vital regeneration strategies for tropical forests worldwide, highlighting the importance of natural regeneration and the need to understand the recovery process.
