President Donald Trump fired Air Force Gen. CQ Brown Jr. as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, part of an effort to remove military leaders who support diversity. Brown, the second Black general to serve in the role, had spoken out in support of Black Lives Matter. Trump nominated retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Dan “Razin” Caine as the next chairman, despite Caine not having key assignments typically required for the job. Two other senior officers were also fired by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
